NUS-Sciences Po Double Degree Programme

As recruitment for the Double Degree Programme (DDP) is an international one, we consider prospective students of all nationalities and with various different qualifications (as shown in the table below).

Overview

Application for admission to the DDP is a two-step process. You are required to submit the NUS application in the Applicant Portal. Eligible candidates will be invited to complete the DDP supplementary application through an external portal, ASTRNT. Do complete the process within the respective deadlines based on your qualifications, as failing which, your application will be deemed incomplete and withdrawn from consideration.

    • Step 1: Apply to NUS
    • Step 2: Complete the DDP Supplementary Application via ASTRNT (if eligible)

If you have gained admittance to NUS, it does not imply that you will automatically have a place in the DDP as both applications will be processed separately.

If you have received a final offer of admission to the DDP, you will have also been admitted to Sciences Po (its Le Havre, Menton or Reims campus) and NUS (College of Humanities and Sciences (CHS) and NUS College). You will matriculate at both Sciences Po and NUS at the start of the DDP, and be considered students of both institutions throughout.

Application Instructions

Step 1: Apply to NUS

All applicants interested in pursuing the NUS-Sciences Po Double Degree Programme (DDP) must complete an online application to NUS as NUS (through NUS College) will manage the application process for this DDP.

There is no need to apply to Sciences Po separately.

Note: Being admitted to NUS does not imply that you will automatically have a place in the DDP.

To complete the NUS Application to the NUS-Sciences Po Double Degree Programme (DDP), you should select the relevant qualification you are holding. You may also refer to the Application Guide to start your application.

In the online application, under the Section on Choice of Courses, please do the following:

Sub-Section: Single Degree Courses
1. Select “Humanities and Sciences” as your first or second choice of courses. You are required to indicate one of the four majors: Economics, History, Political Science or Sociology. Only these four majors are compatible with the DDP.

Sub-Section: Double Degree (DDP), Concurrent Degree (CDP), Double Major and Minor programmes
2. Select “Arts & Social Sciences (NUS) and Arts (Sciences Po)” as your first or second choice of courses.

In the online application, under the Section on Academic Qualifications:

Depending on your qualifications, you may be asked, as part of the NUS application process, to document your English proficiency under the Section on Academic Qualifications – Additional Information. Keep in mind that the DDP requires a high level of English proficiency corresponding to any of the following:

  • TOEFL: 100
  • IELTS: 7
  • PTE: 68
  • TOEIC “listening and reading”: 900/990 and “speaking and writing” (IBT or Mobile): 350/400
  • CAE Cambridge Certificate Advanced English Level B
  • CPE Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English
  • ACT with writing / SAT and SAT Subject Tests (please refer to the NUS Office of Admissions for more information)

Note: An English proficiency test that is taken online (e.g. IELTS indicator Test) is not a substitute for the in person test and its result will not be accepted by NUS Office of Admissions.

You are required to submit a testimonial/referee letter as part of your application. If you have not submitted a testimonial/referee letter in your application to NUS College at the NUS Application portal, please upload your testimonial/referee letter when submitting the DDP Supplementary Application at Step 2.

Note: It is mandatory for all applicants presenting the International Baccalaureate Diploma to authorise the International Baccalaureate (IB) to release their IB transcripts to NUS, and not NUS College. There is no need to send a hardcopy of the transcript by post to NUS College.

Candidates who have completed “Step 1: Apply to NUS” and are eligible for the NUS-Sciences Po DDP will be invited to complete the DDP Supplementary Application. Please refer to “APPLICATION TIMELINE” for more information.

Complete Step 2 within the deadline stipulated. It is important for you to read and follow the instructions carefully as once you submit your application, you will not be able to retrieve your application for edits.

Step 2: You will receive an email from ASTRNT to complete the DDP supplementary application:

  1. Indicate your campus choice at Sciences Po;
  2. Indicate your preferred choice of major at College of Humanities and Sciences (CHS) – choose one of the four majors: Economics, History, Political Science or Sociology;
  3. Complete your Motivational Statement in the portal;
  4. Submit your testimonial/referee letter (in docdocx or pdf form).
Under the section on “Motivational Statement”, please prepare your statement:

A motivational statement explaining your reasons for applying (250 – 500 words) to NUS-Sciences Po Double Degree Programme, your interest in Sciences Po and NUS and how and why this DDP will help you realise your personal and professional goals.

You will be given 5 working days to complete your supplementary application. It is recommended that you prepare your motivational statement ahead of time.
