Research Experience
Learning at NUS College is a rich and holistic journey filled with multiple opportunities, including self-directed learning and research experiences. Whether it be in pursuit of a specific research opportunity, participation in an academic conference or enrolment into a competition, students are able to access the NUS College Research Experience Grant to support their endeavours.
NUS College Research Experience Grant
The NUS College Research Experience Grant provides funding for outstanding NUS College undergraduates to pursue research and learning opportunities locally or overseas.
Funding is provided to enable students to:
- Present a paper in an academic conference
- Participate in a conference or programme that has clear research components
- Participate in an academic competition representing NUS
- Pursue a research opportunity
To qualify for the grant:
- The opportunity must not hold any unit
- Applicant’s GPA must be 4.0 and above
- Applicant must not be a previous recipient of this grant
- Applicant is not an NUS College graduand waiting for conferment of his/her undergraduate degree
Depending on the level of participation, please note that the grant will cover a percentage of the registration fee, airfare and overseas accommodation.
Students will be required to submit their research papers, posters, presentations, or participation reports following the completion of their trips. They may also be asked to present their research experiences at events for fellow students.
Application Cycles
Application is open year-round. Applicants will be notified of the results within three weeks of the respective application deadlines.
How to Apply
To apply, you will need to submit the following documents:
- Application form
- Academic transcript
- Information about the Conference, Programme or Academic Competition
- Invitation or Acceptance Letter (includes confirmation of paper presentation at the conference, if applicable)
- Personal statement
- Letter of recommendation (such as from your research supervisor)
- Evidence of registration
- Evidence of payment for registration, airfare and overseas accommodation, where applicable (eg. original receipt, telegraphic transfer record, e-tickets, credit/debit card statements)
- Evidence of external funding/other sources of funding for this same opportunity (if any)
