It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the news of the passing of Professor George P. Landow, the Founding Dean of NUS’ University Scholars’ Programme (USP).  He passed away peacefully at his home in Rhode Island on 31 May 2023.

Appointed in January 2000, Dean Landow was first brought to Singapore as a Distinguished Visiting Professor.  Dean Landow played an integral role in building the foundation of the programme, and the ethos of what is USP.  His contributions have left an indelible mark on the programme that has nurtured and inspired generations of undergraduates.  Uniquely interdisciplinary, Dean Landow was also a leading authority on Victorian Culture, and, a pioneer in hypertext, on how information is shared electronically.  We remember and honour his legacy that lives on here, in NUS College.
