Hussain has been offered a position to study a MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development at the University of Cambridge, UK. He has since accepted, and is currently in the UK furthering his post-graduate education.

Audrey and Haozhe tied the knot in 2023. After being involved in community activities together, they began to delve deeper in understanding each other despite their seemingly different academic interests and personalities. The everyday life in USP gave them opportunities to have deeper conversations, find commonalities, and appreciate their differences.

Shane and Shamantha are the co-founders of Growthbeans, a social enterprise that supports the growth and well-being of individuals & leaders in Asia. Through coaching-infused programs, products and services, they equip individuals with compassion and key people skills to grow resiliently, connect authentically, and give meaningfully. They also spearhead the Growth Collective SG, a movement to create a world where everyone grows and feels supported. With this, they are creating sustainable Growth Circles in communities. Presently, they partner closely with the NUSC Growth Mentoring team to offer training to our students, for career preparation, and to find their ikigai.

Qiyun has just been inducted as a National Geographic Society Young Explorer for 2023. The environmental advocate and influencer will work alongside other young leaders to tackle sustainability challenges, seek solutions and generally work together for a better future as Explorers.
Jackie Tan (Life Sciences + USP ’12)
Jackie Tan (Life Sciences + USP ’12)
Jackie is a serial entrepreneur in the fintech and edutech space, and was featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 (2018) and Gen.T list for his startup work. He is currently working on a new fintech idea in the maritime industry. In his free time, he lectures in Nanyang Technological University (on data science) and Singapore University of Social Sciences (on no-code and entrepreneurship).
Stacy Ooi (Sociology + USP ’18)
Stacy Ooi (Sociology + USP ’18)
Stacy worked on the Women’s Helpline at AWARE from 2020 – 2023, where she provided emotional support and practical resources to individuals in distress and need. Currently she runs her own business, the Rainbow Fictioneers, where she facilitates creative writing workshops for adults. Her undergraduate honours thesis, regarding the construction of truth surrounding sexual violence in the Singaporean legal context, has been further developed and published in the Palgrave Socio-Legal Studies series. Her paper can be found in the anthology titled “Criminal Legalities and Minorities in the Global South: Rights and Resistance in a Decolonial World”.

Hazirah Mohamad (Malay Studies + USP ’11)
Hazirah is currently a PhD candidate in Public Health Science, Social and Behavioural Health Sciences at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. In her past professional life, she was a Senior Research Associate specialising in issues revolving around palliative care, gerontology and youth delinquency. She is passionate about topics relating to social justice, racialised dimensions and social determinants of health, and inequity in access to information and services in both the health and justice systems. Marvin Kang (Business Administration + USP ’12)
Marvin is the Executive Director for The Astronauts Collective (TAC), which he founded in 2014. TAC is a non-profit organisation that supports youths on their journey of career exploration. Expanding the reach of TAC, they have launched Project 10X, aimed at supporting youths from more challenging backgrounds, in particular, those who are from lower-income households, less academically-inclined and/or those with mild special needs. Marvin is also a policy officer with the Singapore Government (currently on no-pay leave to run the non-profit organisation), with experiences in education, transport and industry development policies.

Haozhe and Audrey tied the knot in 2023. Their time in USP provided them with a space to understand each other’s perspectives and develop deeper connections. They quickly realised that they had a lot in common – both love to learn and constantly challenge each other’s beliefs, while having fun and taking part in meaningful activities within the close-knit community.

Marcus Chua (Philosophy, Politics and Economics ’21)
Marcus Chua (Philosophy, Politics and Economics ’21)
Marcus recently joined the NUSC Community as a Residential Student Life Manager. He is part of the team that oversees pastoral care of the NUSC students. He also runs social impact programmes including ‘Beyond the Latter Grade’ (post-exam student support), and is a Badminton World Federation-accredited coach. Marcus serves in the executive committees of the ‘University-Cities’ series for higher education, and in various Yale-NUS College Alumni task forces.

Caitlin Alsandria O’Hara (Medicine + USP/NUSC ’23)
Caitlin Alsandria O’Hara (Medicine + USP/NUSC ’23)
As 73rd President of the NUS Medical Society, Caitlin led a team to establish an after-hours counselling service pilot for healthcare students, which is now being expanded across NUS. Separately, she co-piloted the medical school’s first programme to train students to communicate effectively with patients with disabilities — now formally integrated into the undergraduate curriculum. Upon graduation, she received the prestigious national Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All-Round Achievement (LHL-OAA). Now a full-time doctor, she continues working on projects related to the health of marginalised populations.
