NUS College (NUSC) is the honours college of the National University of Singapore and is also Singapore’s first honours college. NUSC focuses on seminar-style teaching and interdisciplinary learning. Fully integrated into the larger NUS ecosystem, NUSC students have access to more than 60 majors, minors, specialisations and other programmes, as well as facilities and opportunities across the University.
The College, which admitted its first cohort in 2022, takes in 6-7% of each year’s undergraduate cohort across NUS. Our community spans an academic team of local and international experts in their fields, as well as a diverse global student body.
Notable aspects of NUS College encompass a residential living and learning model requiring students to reside in the College’s residential wings for a minimum of two years; an innovative capstone two-year programme called Impact Experience (IEx), offering students opportunities to devise impactful solutions for real-world community challenges; and exciting global pathways including the College’s flagship Global Experience (GEx) programme where students participate in specially curated programmes in global cities, leveraging each region’s distinctive strengths. With a multi-faceted pedagogy, small class size teaching and an interdisciplinary learning culture, NUSC aims to “break open the classroom”.
NUS College builds upon two remarkable foundations: the University Scholars Programme (USP), founded in 2001, championed interdisciplinary education, and Yale-NUS College, initiated in 2011, embraced liberal arts and sciences while fostering a global perspective. NUS College embodies our predecessors’ distinctive qualities with a mission to build exceptional educational experiences, nurturing independent, adaptable individuals committed to driving positive change.
