Impact Festival 2026

NUS College’s Impact Festival 2026 is back with the theme of Resonance, celebrating the continued and growing impact of our students’ Impact Experience (IEx) projects. In this capstone programme, students engage with Singaporean and Southeast Asian communities to drive meaningful, contextual social change. The project culminates in a creative showcase where students use art-based media to represent their work and amplify community voices.

Making Waves on the Frontlines of Marine Conservation

As part of NUS College’s Impact Experience (IEx) programme, two NUSC student teams, Shell-utions (Gili Islands) and Team Sabah Fish (Pulau Larapan) ventured beyond our classroom and shores into the heart of Southeast Asia to protect sea turtles and empower coastal communities. They returned with new skills, renewed conviction, and a deeper sense of purpose – shaped by the communities they worked alongside. Here’s a closer look at their journeys.

Learning to walk like an elephant: Reflections on an NUS College Impact Experience project

Ryan Lim, a Year 4 student majoring in Southeast Asian Studies, is among the first cohort of NUSC students who recently completed their IEx projects and showcased their work at the inaugural Impact Festival in September 2025. Reflecting on his extraordinary experience living with and learning from elephant caretakers in Huay Pakkoot, Thailand, Ryan shares the impact that this incredible opportunity has had on him and his educational development.

Once taken to the field, carefully designed solutions can stall or fall apart as challenges emerge from unpredictable factors like human behaviour, and practical considerations pull resources in different directions.
