We announced on 27 August 2021 that we would form a planning committee to oversee the creation of the New College. The responsibilities of the committee would include drafting the development plans for the New College in order to bring together the most successful elements of the University Scholars Programme (USP) and Yale-NUS College (Yale-NUS) to deliver a broad-based, interdisciplinary education.
The planning committee convened its first meeting on 21 September 2021. The committee comprises student representatives from both USP and Yale-NUS, as well as senior leadership from NUS, USP, Yale-NUS and Yale University.
The committee is supported by seven working groups that are responsible for looking into key areas such as the common curriculum, staff and faculty matters, admissions, student and residential life, communications, and facilities management.
The committee and working groups include around 20 student representatives from both USP and Yale-NUS.
The committee will meet regularly to ensure that work on New College is progressing smoothly. Progress updates will be shared with the community on a regular basis. The committee expects to finish its work by March 2022.
